According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI report released on March 12th, Annual Inflation was up from 3.1% in January 3.2% in December. (but since we calculate it to two digits, it was actually 3.09% in January and 3.15% in February.) Monthly inflation was 0.54% in January and 0.62% in February. Typically inflation is highest in the first quarter of the year, so these numbers are not that unusual. In January 2023 monthly inflation was 0.80%, so annual inflation was lower in 2024 but monthly inflation was "only" 0.56% in February 2023 so annual inflation increased in 2024. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Annual Inflation fell from 6.41% in January to 6.04% in February Monthly inflation was 0.56% for February 2023, compared to 0.91% in 2022. Despite the significant drop in inflation the market was more concerned with bank failures so, there was no inflation rally. Don’t Blame Putin for High U.S. Inflation… Yet
With Annual Inflation reaching 40-year highs in February, the current administration is frantically searching for a scapegoat... any scapegoat no matter how absurd... to deflect responsibility for the current high inflation rate. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports February 2022 Inflation Hits Another Record High. Inflation Summary: Annual Inflation highest since January 1982. CPI Index rose from 281.148 to 283.716. Monthly Inflation for February was 0.91% The next release is on April 12th February 2022 Annual Inflation was 7.87%. February Inflation Falls to 2.33%
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released its February Inflation report on March 11th, 2020, for the 12 months through the end of February 2020. Annual Inflation Falls Annual inflation fell from the high set at 2.49% in January to 2.33% in February. CPI Index in February was 258.678 up from January's 257.971, December was 256.974, November was 257.208 down from October's 257.346 Monthly Inflation for January was 0.39%, while February was 0.27% down from 0.42% in February 2019.
