According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics CPI report released on September 13th, Annual Inflation increased from 3.2% in July to 3.7% in August. (but more precisely, it was from 3.18% to 3.67%.) The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in August, Annual Inflation fell from 8.52% to 8.26% Inflation Summary: Annual Inflation fell to 8.26% from a peak of 9.06% in June CPI Index fell from 296.276 to 296.171. August 2021 Inflation Down Slightly
On September 14th, 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said that in August 2021, the Annual Inflation Rate was down. Inflation Summary: Annual Inflation was 5.25% in August, 5.37% in July, and 5.39% in June. CPI Index rose from 273.003 in July to 273.567 in August. Monthly Inflation for July was 0.48% and 0.21% for August. Next release October 13th Inflation for the 12 months ending in August was down 0.12% from July. Since the BLS rounds to 1 decimal place, they reported June and July as 5.4% and August as 5.3%. The last time inflation was this high was the 5.6% of July 2008. August Inflation Report
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released their August Inflation report on September 12th 2019, for the 12 months through August 2019. Annual Inflation is Down Slightly Annual inflation in August was 1.75% very similar to the 1.79% in May and the 1.81% in July. But still above the 1.65% in June, and below the 2.00% in April. Inflation peaked at 2.95% in July 2018. CPI Index in August was 256.558. July was 256.571, June was 256.143, May was 256.092. April's was 255.548 and March was 254.202. July Inflation Numbers Minimal
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released their monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) and Inflation report for the year ending in July on August 19th . Annual Inflation came in at 0.17%. That means that something that cost $100 a year ago would cost $100.17 today. That is compared to the typical inflation of around 3% which would mean that something that cost $100 last year would cost $103 this year. The BLS rounds this to .2% which of course is so small that almost any one of the deflationary months last year would cancel out all the inflation we've seen over the previous 12 months.
